Iran Eyes 19mt Petchem Output in Mahshahr by Yearend

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization announced a $1-billion investment in Mahshahr region to build infrastructure, and said: "With the plans made, the production of petrochemicals in this region will reach 19 million tons by the end of the current calendar year, which began on March 21."

Seyed Omid Shahidinia stated: "Our most important task in this region is to provide the ground for investment and energy management."

He said 26 million tons of the current 90 million tons of the country's petrochemical industry capacity belongs to Mahshahr petrochemical complexes.

He pointed to the diversity of products supplied in active petrochemical plants in the Mahshahr region, and said: "Currently, about $7 billion worth of new projects are underway in the region, which will create more than 4,800 new jobs."
