Morteza Shahmirzaei said on Sunday at the national conference on
digital transformation and knowledge-based economy, which was held with the aim
of supporting and empowering the innovative solutions of industry activists and
experts, that Iran's petrochemical industry, with regard to the vast reserves
of oil and gas, is on the path of growth and development.
He stated that the use of various petrochemical products is growing in
the world, and according to statistics, the demand doubles every 20 years,
which affects the economy and industry, and added: “In our country, we should
use the existing capacities and take advantage of knowledge and new
technologies to ensure the prosperity of this valuable industry.”
The NPC CEO continued: “The production capacity of Iran's
petrochemical industry is now about 90 million tons per year, which will reach
about 200 million tons by the end of the eighth development plan, and Iran's mix
of petrochemical products will be more diverse.”
Shahmirzaei stated: “The cooperation of the petrochemical industry
with academic and research centers and knowledge-based companies can lead to
transformation in this value-creating industry, and fortunately, the
Petrochemical Research and Technology Company has garnered favorable
achievements in the field of localization of technical knowhow of catalysts.”
