TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi has commended the significant contribution of the oil and gas industries to the country's economic growth during the 13th government, which saw an average of 4% growth. He noted that the oil and gas industry should be science-based and technology-based to ensure the latest knowledge is applied in all projects.

Raisi also praised the Ministry of Petroleum for its plans to collect flare gases, highlighting that converting 250 million cubic feet of flared gas from the Hoveizeh Gas Refinery into usable gas for the national gas network is a significant achievement.

Raisi also announced that the number of knowledge-based companies active in the oil industry has increased from 100 to 500 companies, with the ministry doing joint projects with these companies.

He emphasized that unemployment is a significant issue in Khuzestan, and the recruitment of non-native workers should be limited to cases where there is no native expert in the field.

The president stressed that preventing crude sales in the oil and gas industry increases production, creates employment, and prospers the industry.

He also announced the collection of all flare gases in the east and west of Karun as a priority of the Ministry of Petroleum and the government.

Raisi urged serious attention to the allocation of 120,000 billion Rials in the form of social responsibility projects of the Ministry of Petroleum, with provincial officials ensuring that the money is spent on the province's development.

In closing, the president declared that the oil and gas industry should be managed in a jihadist manner and acknowledged that the measures taken in the oil and gas industries for the self-sufficiency of Islamic Iran are a source of power for the country.

Stating that the power of the country is not only limited to the military power, he added: The measures taken in the oil and gas industries for the self-sufficiency of Islamic Iran are a source of power for the country, and this production of power gives hope to friends and despair to enemies.
