At a specialized session on the role of technology in the growth of
polymer industries, held on the third day of the 18th International Iranplast
Exhibition, Saeed Zakai, CEO of Sharif Polymer Company, emphasized the
importance of innovation in advancing the polymer industry.
He noted that Iran ranks 24th globally in the polymer industry and,
given the country's rich resources, it is a strategic sector. With Iran's ninth
position in global labor capacity, first in regional research papers and
patents, and fifth worldwide, there is significant potential to achieve a
top-ten global rank in the polymer industry.
Zakai highlighted that innovation is not limited to product
development; it extends to marketing, production processes, and business
models. He stressed the importance of exports and establishing connections with
capable international customers as key drivers of innovation in the industry.
In the same session, Barmak Qanbarpour, a member of the Iranian
Chamber of Commerce, pointed out that the entire value chain of the polymer
industry must be enhanced for value creation. He mentioned that last year,
around 5 million tons of polymer raw materials were traded on the stock
exchange, with the potential to double value-added by converting raw materials
into advanced polymer and engineering products.
Hosseini, CEO of Paydar Plastic, emphasized that creativity leads to
innovation and must be nurtured through research and continuous development.
Mohammad Saleh Khaleqi, Secretary of Iran's National Technology Market
Network, highlighted the importance of commercializing technological
advancements. He stated that increased demand for technology in the past decade
has boosted production, and creating a structured connection between the
polymer industry and the innovation ecosystem will ensure the penetration of
technology into production processes.
The 18th International Iranplast Exhibition is being held from
September 8 to 11 at the Tehran International Fairgrounds, featuring 288
foreign and 525 domestic companies.
