Speaking at a quarterly meeting of Persian Gulf Petrochemical
Industries Group CEOs, Ansari-Nik highlighted the company’s achievements. He
stated that the company's feedstock intake had increased steadily over the past
three years, growing from 2.6 million tons in 2021 to over 3.2 million tons in
2023, reflecting a 15% increase.
Feedstock intake continued to rise in 2024, with a significant jump
from 1 million tons in the first five months of 2021 to around 1.5 million tons
in the same period of 2024. The volume of NGL (natural gas liquids) intake is
also on an upward trajectory, expected to reach 32.6 million barrels in 2024,
compared to 16.6 million barrels in 2022, marking a 46% increase over the
previous year.
Ansari-Nik emphasized the strong production performance from 2019 to
2023. Output increased from 3.5 million tons in 2021 to 4.5 million tons in
2023, representing a 13% year-on-year increase. The production in the first
five months of 2024 continued this upward trend, showing an 8% growth.
Regarding ongoing projects, Ansari-Nik outlined that 224 projects have
been approved for 2024, with 17 already completed. Key developments include the
commissioning of a $40 million central wastewater treatment plant and the
ongoing construction of a $47 million ethane recovery project, which is 50%
complete. The chlor-alkali unit, valued at $239 million, has reached the piling
stage and is progressing steadily. Once completed, it will produce 330,000 tons
of caustic soda and 294,000 tons of chlorine annually, providing a stable
chlorine supply for downstream units.
